Not long after the war of Heaven, God decided to create a new race to populate the stars. They became known as the Asgariathans. But the first Asgariathans- a man and a woman, were corrupted by Satan and cast out of Heaven onto the mortal plane they were supposed to populate. But they were not given protection the way the Grays had been. In his righteous fury, God decided that he would leave the worlds to their own fates, and left. In a panic, the angels decided that their purpose was to keep things the way they were until God would return, preferably by not interfering with the material plane.
Despite the hardships of forming a civilization from just two people, the Asgariathan race grew. They too managed to ascend into space and settle the stars. The angels provided them with guidance and protection. But the angels did not anticipate one thing. Angels could not be created by anybody but God and they would not allow mortals to join their ranks. Meanwhile, the dark angels received the souls of the Asgariathans who were consumed by grief and turned them into Wraiths, beings of shadow and fed off of the despair of mortals. The Demons received the souls of the evil and wicked and fed off of the sins of the mortals. They became far more powerful as time passed while the angels did not. As they became more powerful, their influence on the mortal plane grew.
More and more mortals began falling into wickedness or depression, fueling the Demons and Wraith. The Asgariathans lost their holiness. After 56 million years of tranquility, Asgariath fell into a massive civil war. At the same time, the Wraith, Demons, and Heaven clashed in the Dark War. The material plane was reduced to ashes, the only Asgariathans still alive falling into a medieval dark-age on their home world, Asgarian. The angels were greatly beaten and could no longer effectively influence the mortals they had once guided while the Wraith and Demons were only temporarily banished.
The dark age lasted for 2 million years until the first glimpse of hope appeared when the Asgariathan Empire began conquering the planet. But the planet was the size of Jupiter (gravity reducing fields had been installed by the Grays before their untimely demise), and the war took another million years. As it was drawing to a close, a powerful sorcerer banished the entire Asgariathan Empire (except those who did not associate themselves with the Empire) into Regno Tenebrarum.
Now, any hope for the Asgariathan race seemed lost.
